More Fun with NATE

We took Nate into the big city. Nate and Jamie took a ride on the Farris wheel at Navy Pier. And we also took Nate to Ed Debevics. WE had the BEST waiter I've ever had there. He was way funny. It felt so good to sit down and relax after walking around and around the block. But we finally got headed in the right direction. Nate also got to go to Nauvoo and Carthage while he was here. Thanks for coming Nate. You're welcome back anytime!!!

~Nate Andrews is a REAL MAN!!!

Nate, Jamie's boyfriend came to spend some time with the family. He sure got to experience a lot while he was here. First night in town we took him to Happy Joe's. YES he ate and LIKE Canadian bacon and Sauerkraut pizza!!! the next "test" was pickled herring that's him eating it....YES people he liked it.

UNCLE HAROLD'S FARM

Roger Called and said "The corn is ready to be picked" We loaded up the car and drove around until we found the farm. (Haylee we were NOT lost)!!! Natem Jamie's boyfriend husked the corn and started eating it right there.....as you can see Jackson loved it too. YES that is uncooked freshly husked corn on the cob he's eating.....it was pretty darn good. We all found out though that field corn is not that great.

WINNEBAGO COUNTY FAIR

Jackson loved petting the animals at the fair. HE also loved the ice cream grandma gave him. Our annual things to do are, see the animals if grandkids are with us, eat TACO'S from what used to be the R.L.D.S. taco stand. And eat ice cream to support the boy scouts. Fun was had by all.

~ 4 Eagle Scouts~ ROCKING HORSE

So my dumb blog won't let me post the picture of the 4 eagle scouts all in uniform together....but believe me I now have 4 eagle scouts.....Jordan had he eagle court of honor on Sunday the 10th of August. THANK YOU Jeremy & Morgan for making the sacrifice to come out and be a part of that. Also thank you Justin and Haylee for making the LONG drive up from Tennessee to be here for the week.
Grandpa Johnson made this rocking horse for his grand kids now his great grandkids are riding too. Jackson got to rocking so fast that he bonked his little head ont he horse :) but look at his face HE sure loved it

continuing on

Jeff came in at 12:20p.m. and Jeremy was coming in at 12:34p.m. perfect right? Well Jeremy's flight was an hour and a half late. WE had to stall. We stood around talking with Jeff and Brandon Laxner who came to the airport to see Jeff, for about a 1/2 hour. Then we had to get back on the train and go to the international terminal. We still had about a 1/2 hour to wait for Jeremy. Being the clever mom that I am I tricked everyone It's a long and embarassing story (for some) See Jeremy wanted to surprise Jordan who was having his eagle court of honor on Sunday....and since Jeff was coming home at the same time he decided to be there for both events. SURPRISE!!!
Then at the Dekalb building where Jeff had to meet President Neuman to be released, we had another surprise. Jeff met his nephew for the first him Jackson....Justin and Haylee were able to surprise Jeff again. After Jeff was released as a full time missionary, he bore his testimony to us all.

Never a Dull moment

Elder Jeffery Scott Johnson got home August 8th from his mission to Vancouver Canada. If we ever get a home coming right it will be a miracle. We called Salt Lake to find out for sure if flying from Canada was an international flight. YES we were told. So we went to terminal 5 which is the international air terminal at Chicago O'Hare airport. NOPE he flew into terminal 1 air Canada. SO we had to run to the train which took us to the right terminal....on the way there we got a phone call from one of Jeff's friends who had already spotted Jeff. WE were LATE!!! We all came running down the escalators and Jamie yells JEFFY!!! The signs says welcome EH!!!

~ A very cool experience~

The man in the middle is Brother Brad Harris...you won't see him in the Ensign, or speak at General Conferance, However he is on the Young Men General Board. Working with Elder Dalquist. We had the awesome opportunity of having him stay with us for three nights. He was here with a scout encampment....Camp Lowden.
We stayed up every evening talking with him after he came home from camp. The last night here we stayed up until 1:00A.M. He told us how he was called by Elder Bednar. One of the questions he asked him was: is there anything in your conduct in life that if hit the front page of the paper would bring embarassment in anyway to the Church? Interesting question huh? He attended Ricks College and met his wife there....then went to BYU. He is a professor at BYU now. IF you want to go hiking in UTAH he has some cool places he knows about.
